Maria Verduzco
Family Resources Coordinator
Maria A. Verduzco has been a Family Resources Coordinator with ASAPC since 2019. She has a Bachelor of Science in Psychology, has been working in the nonprofit field since 2013, and is fluent in Spanish.
Maria has always had a passion for working with people. She started her career in behavioral health; youth facing circumstances of homelessness, and mental health challenges, and supporting adults in recovery from substance use. When she first began working with children, she had no previous experience working with infants and toddlers. Immersed in this field, Maria became very passionate about early childhood development.
Maria soon facilitated different parenting programs for caregivers and parents. Implementing curriculums such as Positive Discipline, Opening Doors, PIPE, and Kindergarten readiness classes and playgroups for children under the age of 5. She even had the opportunity to participate in the development of an art curriculum for 3-year-old children in collaboration with the University of Arizona. Additionally, Maria has supported parents of children with disabilities in navigating the Special Education system and accessing resources, including facilitated parent support groups, and focus groups with families from diverse cultural backgrounds.
At ASAPC, Maria is inspired by each family, “I love being a part of a family’s journey and see parents/caregivers learn alongside their children.”
When Maria is not working, she loves spending time with her husband, and her two preschoolers, and being creative. Born and lived in Washington until ten years of age, she and her family moved to Arizona and lived in beautiful Mexico for 18 years. Maria came back to Washington several years ago. Her dreams are to master a new language, travel to new places, and try as many desserts as possible!
